THON Reveals 2023 ‘Foster The Magic’ Logo
THON revealed its “Foster The Magic” logo Sunday afternoon during the annual Family Carnival in the Multi-Sport Facility.
The design, created by graphic design captain Kyle O’Keeffe, is light blue and purple and features a boy reading with stars coming out of the text.
The design is inspired by a fairy tale written by Christopher Millard, titled “Four Diamonds.” Millard died of cancer at the age of 14 in 1972. He was the son of Four Diamonds co-founder Charles Millard, who died last November at 93 years old.
“This story features a young knight battling an evil sorceress by finding four diamonds, titled wisdom, honesty, courage, and strength with the knight being Christopher and the sorceress being cancer,” THON said in a release. “When Chris wrote his story of the Four Diamonds, he may not have known how far and wide its message would spread, but thanks to Irma, Charles, and thousands of families, volunteers, and donors, the world gets the honor of knowing THON’s mission and the magic that comes with it.”
THON spoke of the magic people feel when a child rings the bell at Penn State Health Children’s Hospital and during THON Weekend. Every person has their own story that inspires others.
“Together, we can ensure that the magic of our chapter is spread to as many people as possible, so they too can experience the magic that is THON,” the release said. “THON sparks a feeling of magic in all whom experience it, and THON will continue to be true magic until the day we dance in celebration of a cure. Together there are no limits to what we can accomplish and the magic we can foster.”
The 2023 THON logo will be featured on branding, merchandise, and more. The theme was revealed by the executive committee in October, prior to the start of the Penn State Homecoming parade.
THON 2023 is slated for Friday, February 17, through Sunday, February 19.
