Penn State Men’s Hockey Stays Put At No. 5 In USCHO Poll

Penn State men’s hockey stayed put at No. 5 in this week’s USCHO Poll after having the last week off.

The Nittany Lions have come in at No. 5 in the last four polls dating back to December 5.

Penn State is joined by four other Big Team teams in the week’s rankings, including Minnesota (No. 2), Michigan (No. 6), Ohio State (No. 8), and Michigan State (No. 17).

The Nittany Lions’ most recent gameplay came against RIT when they swept a two-game set against the Tigers. Guy Gadowsky’s squad outscored RIT 9-2 in the dominant series win.

To this point, Penn State boasts a 17-5 overall record and a 7-5 record within the conference. The Nittany Lions will be back in action at 7 p.m. on Friday, January 13, to begin a two-game series against Michigan State in East Lansing. They’ll return to Pegula Ice Arena the following weekend for a two-game set against Notre Dame, with the second game of the series being the team’s annual “Wear White” game.

Penn State women’s hockey also stayed put in this week’s rankings, with Jeff Kampersal’s team coming in at No. 12. The Nittany Lions have been ranked No. 12 in the nation since November 21. They’ll resume play this weekend with a two-game series against RIT beginning at 6 p.m. on Friday, January 13, at Pegula Ice Arena.
