Lady Lions’ Makenna Marisa, Leilani Kapinus Earn All-Big Ten Honors

Penn State women’s basketball guards Makenna Marisa and Leilani Kapinus have earned All-Big Ten honors, as announced by the conference on Tuesday.

Marisa was named first-team All-Big Ten by the media, while Kapinus is a unanimous member of the All-Defensive team.

Marisa averaged 17.3 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 4.2 assists per game this season and also made her presence known on the defensive side of the court with 1.7 steals per game. The senior led the team in both points and assists this season. The conference’s coaches nabbed her a second-team honoree this year for her strong play.

Kapinus served as a defensive anchor for the Lady Lions this season, averaging 3.1 steals and one block per game. She was also named an honorable by the media for the All-Big Ten teams.

The Lady Lions are back in action at 2 p.m. on Wednesday in the first round of the Big Ten Tournament. They’ll take on Minnesota in Minneapolis, and the game will be televised on the Big Ten Network.
