Chase McLane’s Goal Ranked No. 10 On SportsCenter’s Top 10 Plays

Penn State men’s hockey annihilated Michigan Tech with an 8-0 win in the NCAA Regional Semifinal Friday night at the PPL Center in Allentown, capitalizing on the program’s first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2018.

The Nittany Lions turned what many expected to be a close game into a scoring clinic, with goals being scored nonstop, some in unique ways. Junior forward Chase McLane got in on the action in the third period, not only making the score 6-0 but also ending up on SportsCenter’s top 10 plays at No. 10 in the process.

McLane initially appeared to be chasing the puck as it hit the goal line, but he shot it instead. Somehow, it snuck past Michigan Tech goaltender Blake Pietila at an unusual angle and into the net to give the Nittany Lions an even bigger lead.

It was McLane’s second goal of the season and his first since Penn State defeated RIT on New Year’s Eve.

Penn State faces Michigan in the Regional Final at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 26, at the PPL Center in Allentown, Pennsylvania.
