Penn State To Host Annual ‘Coaches vs. Cancer’ Golf Tournament June 2
Penn State men’s basketball head coach Mike Rhoades will host the program’s annual Coaches vs. Cancer Penn State Golf Tournament event next month.
This is the 26th annual tournament, and it’s slated to begin on Friday, June 2, at the Penn State Golf Courses.
The event raises money for the American Cancer Society to help support cancer research and initiatives in the State College community. Penn State’s Coaches vs. Cancer (CVC) chapter has raised more than $3.6 million since its founding in 1995.
CVC will host a series of events on the evening of June 1, the evening before the first swing of the tournament. This includes a Sponsors and Captain Reception at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park that will offer food, drink, and music. An online auction will also offer a range of items and experiences with proceeds benefitting the organization.
The golf tournament itself is a five-player, 18-hole scramble tournament that hosts 300 golfers, sponsors, and others to Penn State’s golf courses each year. Coaching staff from the men’s basketball team, including former head coaches and athletes, will join golfers on the green and at the various tournament events throughout the course of the fundraiser.
Teams have until Friday, May 20, to register and compete in the tournament.
An awards dinner at the Hawbaker Pavilion at the Penn State Golf Courses will follow the golf tournament and will conclude the weekend’s festivities.
Additional information is available online, including registration information, costs for participants, and information to register your team.
