Penn State Library East Entrance To Close Temporarily, Undergo Renovations Throughout Summer
The Pattee and Paterno Library’s east entrance off Curtin Road will be closed for the remainder of the summer as it undergoes sidewalk renovations, stormwater drainage updates, and additional landscaping efforts, according to the university. The project is expected to be completed prior to the start of the fall semester.
The project largely intends to remedy a leakage problem that affects the library’s basement.
Students and community members can still access the library from the two south-facing entrances: the Pattee Mall entrance or the West Pattee Library entrance.
The book return slot at the east entrance will be unavailable throughout the renovation, but folks can return books on the library’s first-floor book drop slot, the HUB, or the Earth and Engineering Sciences Building. Books can also be dropped off at any Schlow Centre Region Library return location due to the libraries’ reciprocal agreement.
The library’s summer hours are now in place, and the Pattee and Paterno Library will operate from 7:45 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday to Friday. It will operate on shortened hours from 1 to 6 p.m. on Sundays, and the library will remain closed on Saturdays until August 19.
