Andrew Funk To Join Denver Nuggets For NBA Summer League

Update, 11:45 a.m.:

Funk will officially join the Nuggets in Denver after signing a Summer League deal Friday morning.

Original Story:

Following the conclusion of the 2023 NBA Draft, shooting guard Andrew Funk reportedly agreed to join the Denver Nuggets for the NBA Summer League, according to the Centre Daily Times’ Jon Sauber.

Funk will reportedly join draftee Jalen Pickett in Denver after the point guard’s second round and No. 32 overall selection Thursday night. The Nittany Lion pair will also reunite with Penn State hoops alum Calvin Booth, the franchise’s general manager.

Funk ranked as the third-highest scorer on the team at the end of his first year in Happy Valley. He spent his first four years of collegiate basketball at Bucknell, where he operated as a three-year starter and recorded 1,230 points as a Bison. Throughout his four years at Bucknell, Funk nailed 190 triples, which is good for the seventh-best in program history.

At Penn State, Funk joined second-year head coach Micah Shrewsberry and Nittany Lions Pickett, Lundy, and Dread in the starting lineup. The shooting guard started all 37 games and led the team and Big Ten in three-pointers with 112 throughout his single season in blue and white.

In Penn State’s opening draw of the NCAA Tournament against Texas A&M, Funk drilled 24 points by way of eight triples and shot 8-of-10 from distance. He closed the game with 27 total points, four rebounds, and one assist in his national attention-garnering performance.
