Choolaah Indian Barbecue To Open In Redifer Commons August 14

Choolaah, an Indian Barbecue restaurant, will open in Redifer Commons within the South Halls Food District on Monday, August 14, the university announced Tuesday.

The eatery, deemed “fast-casual,” will feature a menu of rice-based powerbowls. Students and customers can choose between daal or a variety of masala, opt for protein, and elect for a hot sauce. Mango lassi, chai tea, mango lemonade, and mint ginger lemonade will also be available.

The menu will also include several vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free options and operate from noon to 8 p.m. Sunday through Thursday.

“We are excited about welcoming Choolaah to Penn State,” Penn State Director of Residential Dining Jim Meinecke said. “It will be a quality addition to Residential Dining’s offerings and something unique to the State College area.”

According to its website, Choolaah has six locations throughout Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Virginia.

The restaurant will accept LionCash, campus meal plans, and commuter meal plans, and is eligible for ordering via Penn State Eats.
