Former Wake Forest Outfielder Adam Cecere Commits To Penn State Baseball

Penn State baseball head coach Mike Gambino earned his second commitment to the program in former Wake Forest left fielder Adam Cecere, per Cecere’s Twitter bio.

Cecere will arrive in Happy Valley with one year of eligibility remaining.

During his time in Winston-Salem, Cecere recorded a .986 fielding percentage from left field and only registered two errors over a four-year career at Wake Forest. As a two-time team captain, Cecere batted a career .282 through 130 starts and 143 appearances.

An Adams Township, Pennsylvania, native, Cecere helped lead the Demon Deacons to 54-12 record, an ACC regular-season championship, and College World Series appearance in 2023. Wake Forest fell to eventual National Champion LSU in a three-game series in Omaha, Nebraska, but Cecere notched one hit in the series.

The left fielder batted in a season-high four runs against UNC Greensboro and season-high two home runs against Illinois in February. Following the 2023 season, Cecere was named to the All-ACC Academic Team for the second year in a row and was honored as the ACC Player of the Week once, too.

Cecere will join fellow graduate commit Shayne Audet in the blue and white following Audet’s pledge to the program on July 14. The duo will serve as Gambino’s first pair of commits since his hiring from Boston College on July 3.
