Update: 11 a.m.
The Giants officially announced Saquon Barkley’s return to New York Tuesday morning.
Barkley arrived at camp Tuesday to participate in conditioning drills and will work out in the team’s first official practice Wednesday.
“Obviously we are glad we were able to work things out with Saquon,” Giants General Manager Joe Schoen said in the same release. “We all recognize the player and person Saquon is and what he means to our team. He is a good teammate, a leader and a really good player. We are looking forward to getting on the field tomorrow.”

Saquon Barkley is reportedly heading back to the New York Giants.
The Penn State football alum reportedly signed a one-year deal with the Giants up to $11 million, including a $2 million upfront signing bonus, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that the contract is worth $10.1 million, with $1 million of incentives for 1,300 rushing yards, 11 touchdowns, and 65 receptions. Schefter also shared that the deal lacks a “no franchise tag,” and the Giants can tag the running back after the 2023-24 season.
Barkley reportedly agreed to the terms of Tuesday’s deal after a nearly weeklong stalemate in an attempt to force a long-term contract from the Giants. The star running back even considered sitting out the season until he reached a multi-year agreement with the Giants.
“You want me to show you my worth? You want me to show you how valuable I am to the team? I won’t show up,” Barkley said on the Money Matters Podcast on July 17. “I won’t play a down. And that’s a play I could use.”
Last season, Barkley recorded a career-high 1,312 rushing yards, 10 touchdowns, and 57 receptions, and is right on track to register similar numbers this year in order to secure another $1 million, per his reported contract.
