Lady Lions To Face Oklahoma State & USC In Baha Mar Hoops Pink Flamingo Championship

Penn State women’s basketball will begin its season with matchups against two NCAA Tournament teams: Oklahoma State and USC.

The Lady Lions’ two-day competition in the Baha Mar Hoops Pink Flamingo Championship in Nassau, Bahamas, features a 10-team field including Penn State, Oklahoma State, USC, Georgia, Columbia, East Carolina, Ohio State, Florida, Purdue, and Seton Hall.

The Nittany Lions will first challenge the Cowgirls at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, November 22, at the Baha Mar Convention, Arts, and Entertainment Center. Oklahoma State is fresh off a 21-12 season and a first-round loss to Miami in the NCAA Tournament. The Hurricanes outlasted the Cowgirls by one point to end the team’s season.

Then, Carolyn Kieger and Co. will take on soon-to-be Big Ten foe USC at 9 p.m. on Wednesday, November 22. The Trojans were outlasted by South Dakota State in overtime in the first round of the NCAA Tournament following a 21-10 season.

Meanwhile, the Lady Lions produced a 14-17 overall season and a 4-14 record within the Big Ten.

Penn State is the only group in the Baha Mar Hoops Pink Flamingo Championship that didn’t participate in postseason play in 2022-23, as six teams from the slate headed to the Big Dance, and the remaining three competed in the WNIT.
