Penn State Football’s Olu Fashanu & Kalen King Named AP Preseason All-Americans

Just 12 days away from Penn State football’s season opener against West Virginia, tackle Olu Fashanu and cornerback Kalen King were named to the AP’s first-team preseason All-American list Monday.

Fashanu and King join 10 other Big Ten representatives, the most of any conference.

Fashanu, a junior, allowed zero sacks through 281 pass-blocking snaps at left tackle. The Washington, D.C., native suffered a season-ending injury against Ohio State in October but had previously vowed to spend the 2023 season in Happy Valley with James Franklin and Co.

The offensive tackle is now expected to go early in the 2024 NFL Draft, according to several mock draft predictions. Fashanu also holds claim to his name on the Lombardi Award, Outland Trophy, and Walter Camp Player of the Year watch lists.

King, meanwhile, led the Big Ten in passes defended and pass breakups throughout the 2022 season. Over the course of his sophomore season, the cornerback tallied 30 tackles, three tackles for loss, 18 pass breakups, three interceptions, a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery.

King has also been named to the Bednarik Award, Jim Thorpe Award, Lott IMPACT Award, and Bronko Nagurski Award watch lists.
