UPUA Passes Resolution To Continue Free Resume Printing For Fall Career Days
The 18th Assembly of the University Park Undergraduate Association (UPUA) met once again Wednesday evening to discuss two pieces of new business.
The meeting began with several special presentations, beginning with Student Trustee on the Board of Trustees Kevin Schuyler, who provided information on involvement opportunities available to students within the board.
Vancie Peacock, executive director of the Student Farm Club, spoke next about its plan for expansion, upcoming events hosted by the Student Farm, and potential collaborations with UPUA.
Finally, Ashley Campos, class gift coordinator of the Student Philanthropy Network, spoke about the process of selecting the Class of 2024’s gift. The assembly then moved into new business.
First on the agenda was Resolution #02-18: Support for Indigenous Peoples’ Day & Land Acknowledgement in University Syllabi. This resolution calls on the Penn State Registrar to declare October 9, Indigenous Peoples’ Day.
Furthermore, the resolution urges the Faculty Senate to incorporate the land acknowledgment in university syllabi, as well as deem Indigenous Peoples’ Day as an excused absence through Senate Policy 42-27 to protect students who must miss class in order to partake.
Resolution #02-18 passed with a vote of 22-3-1.
Next was Resolution #03-18: Free Resume Printing for Fall Career Days. This resolution supports continuing the free printing program for students through the UPUA office, due to the HUB’s CopyCentral closing. The event would be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on September 12, allowing students to print free resumes to prepare for Fall Career Days.
Resolution #03-18 passed unanimously.
