Right-Wing Comedian Alex Stein To Return To Penn State October 23

Right-wing comedian Alex Stein will return to Penn State for a “politically provocative comedy night” at 8 p.m. on Monday, October 23, in room 154 at the Bryce Jordan Center.

The event, hosted by Penn State-affiliated club Uncensored America, will feature Stein and “a few surprise guests.”

Stein and Proud Boys founder Gavin McInnes were slated to bring their “Stand Back and Stand By” comedy show to Penn State in October 2022, but the event was canceled an hour before its scheduled start time due to “the threat of escalating violence.”

At least one student was arrested, and chaos quickly ensued as police and demonstrators were pepper sprayed, Stein was spat on, and physical altercations arose.

Penn State claimed it couldn’t cancel the event due to Uncensored America’s “undeniable constitutional right to sponsor this presentation on our campus,” though ultimately canceled it and safely escorted Stein and McInnes off campus.

The University Park Allocation Committee (UPAC) funded Uncensored America $7,774.21 to host Stein on campus, including a $7,000 speaker fee, on September 12, according to UPAC minutes.

According to Uncensored America’s description of the event, Stein’s live comedy shows include question-and-answer segments to create a back-and-forth dialogue.

“This will give students the chance to be a part of the dialogue, learn more about a relevant issue, and challenge any ideas that they may disagree with,” Uncensored America member Alexander Sakal’s event description read. “Alex not only wants to have a fun dialogue with people who agree and disagree, but he also wants to challenge everyone to think deeper about solutions to the biggest problems facing America today.”

According to the UPAC minutes, Uncensored America anticipates about 100 students and 40 faculty and community members to attend the event. Sakal also noted that Uncensored America is already in contact with Penn State Police to secure the event.

Uncensored America and Stein began promoting the return of the comedy show Wednesday, and tickets will be sold on a first-come-first-served basis once available.

Folks interested in purchasing tickets can fill out an interest form here to be notified when tickets hit the market.
