Italian Artist Amir Issaa To Perform & Host Roundtable Discussion November 9

Italian hip-hop artist Amir Issaa, in collaboration with the Italian Student Society, is set to host two events on campus from 4 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, November 9, at Heritage Hall in the HUB.

The theme for the events is “A Multicultural Italy: Embracing Diversity and Transnational Identities.” Issaa will hold a concert and a roundtable discussion for students to highlight and celebrate national identity and culture.

Issaa is a renowned Italo-Egyptian artist, best known for his hip-hop style of multilingual music that aims to inspire his audience on issues related to diversity and inclusion. His event at Penn State, which will be held in English, centers around exploring Italian culture through conservation and performance.

The roundtable discussion will take place from 4 to 5:30 p.m. and will allow students to discuss issues from national identity to self-acceptance. The main goal of the discussion is to raise awareness of the multifaceted aspects of culture and give students the space to discuss modern-day issues of race and identity. Students can RSVP for the roundtable discussion here.

Following the discussion, Issaa’s concert performance will take place from 7:30 to 9 p.m. The concert will feature the upbeat, unique, and fast-paced style of music that Issaa is known for. Students can RSVP for the concert here

The performance and student roundtable discussion held at Penn State is one stop on Issaa’s “This is What I Live For” 2023 USA tour.
