Penn State Men’s Hockey Forward Chase McLane Out For Season

Penn State men’s hockey forward Chase McLane is out for the 2023-24 season after suffering an injury in Saturday’s 6-3 win against Minnesota, head coach Guy Gadowsky announced Monday.

McLane had three goals and three assists for six points this season. He most recently scored against Michigan State on November 11, while his most recent assist was against Lindenwood on November 24. The senior from Trenton, Michigan, has scored 11 goals, 18 assists, and 29 total points in his Penn State career.

It’s currently unclear who will step up to replace McLane. One option is alternate captain Xander Lamppa, who could take his place on the line with Dylan Lugris and Jacques Bouquot. Lamppa has two goals and 11 assists for 13 points this season, so far.

Additionally, Gadowsky said defenseman Carter Schade, who has not played since November 4, could return this weekend. As a freshman last year, Schade recorded nine assists and 36 blocked shots during his 36 appearances.

Penn State heads to Wisconsin for a two-game series beginning at 9 p.m. on Friday, December 8. The game will be televised on the Big Ten Network.
