Penn State Men’s Hockey Jumps One Spot To No. 17 In USCHO Rankings
Penn State men’s hockey moved up one spot in the USCHO rankings after its series split with then-No. 7 Minnesota.
The Nittany Lions were previously ranked No. 18.
Conference foes Minnesota (No. 10), Michigan (No. 14), Michigan State (No. 7), and Notre Dame (No. 20) are also ranked in top 20.
The Nittany Lions split their series against No. 10 Minnesota the past weekend on home ice, which featured goals from Dane Dowiak, Reese Launch, Ryan Kirwan, Jacques Bouquot, Dylan Grattan, Danny Dzhaniyev, and the Teddy Bear Toss.
On Friday, the Golden Gophers dominated the game 4-1, only allowing Penn State one goal by freshman Dowiak. Liam Souliere saved 17 out of 21 shots on goal.
Saturday was a different story for the Nittany Lions. Penn State came out strong and finished the game with a 6-3 victory and 26 total shots.
In their next outing, the Nittany Lions will travel to Madison, Wisconsin, to face the No. 6-ranked Badgers. The series will begin at 9 p.m. on Friday, December 8, and the closing game will take place at 8 p.m. on Saturday, December 9. Friday’s game can be streamed on the Big Ten Network.
