Penn State Football’s Defensive End Chop Robinson Declares For 2024 NFL Draft, Opts Out Of Peach Bowl

Penn State football’s Chop Robinson declared for the 2024 NFL Draft, he announced Tuesday on Twitter. Robinson has also opted out of Penn State’s Peach Bowl game.

“To the Penn State fans, Thank you from the bottom of my heart for accepting me with open arms and making these past two years the best years of my life,” Robinson said in his statement. “I will always cherish our time together and your unwavering support through the many ups and downs is something I will be eternally grateful for.”

Robinson began his collegiate career as a defensive end with the Maryland Terrapins in 2021. The Maryland native appeared in all 13 games for the Terps, recording 19 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, and two sacks.

After his freshman season, Robinson transferred to Penn State and quickly made an impact. The edge rusher appeared in all 12 games for the Nittany Lions a season ago and mounted an impressive campaign with 10 tackles for loss, 5.5 sacks, three quarterback hurries, a fumble recovery, and a forced fumble.

Robinson became a consistent starter on the line during the dominant 2023 season for the Penn State defense. Despite missing two games after going down with an injury against Ohio State, Robinson collected 12 solo tackles, four sacks, and two forced fumbles this season.

The decision to declare for the draft doesn’t come as a surprise since Robinson is a highly-touted draft prospect who is expected to go in the first round.

Robinson is the first of Penn State’s upperclassmen to declare for this year’s NFL draft. On the defensive side of the ball, cornerbacks Kalen King and Johnny Dixon are both draft-eligible as well as safeties Jaylen Reed and Zakee Wheatley.
