Penn State Softball Releases 2024 Schedule

Penn State softball released its 2024 schedule Thursday morning, which features 18 home games and five invitationals.

The Nittany Lions will kick off their season in the Paradise Classic in Boca Raton, Florida. The group will face off against Marshall, Florida Atlantic, Arkansas, and Ohio during a three-day stretch.

The following weekend, Clarisa Crowell and Co. will remain in the Sunshine State for The Spring Games in Leesburg, Florida. There, Penn State will battle Kansas, Coastal Carolina, UC Riverside, Southern Illinois, and Liberty.

The Nittany Lions will have the opportunity to scout the Flames ahead of the Liberty Softball Classic in Lynchburg, Virginia, where they’ll challenge Saint Francis, Liberty, Morgan State, and Penn.

In its final away invitational of the season, Penn State will head south for the Longhorn Invitational in Austin, Texas. Opponents include Hofstra, Tarleton, Northwestern, and Texas. While the blue and white are in the Lone Star State, they’ll take on Texas State in a three-game series, too.

Finally, ahead of Big Ten play, Crowell’s group will host the Penn State Softball Invitational and battle Lehigh, Cornell, Canisius, and Binghamton at Beard Field. They’ll also host Pitt for a one-game matchup ahead of conference play.

The Nittany Lions will open the Big Ten season against Indiana, while also challenging Maryland, Ohio State, Nebraska, Michigan State, Wisconsin, Michigan, and Rutgers. Penn State will additionally host Bucknell and Saint Francis for two one-game outings amid the conference slate.

Crowell finished the 2023 season with a 31-16 overall record and a .500 conference record at 11-11. The group fell in the quarterfinal of the Big Ten Tournament to Indiana in nine innings, closing its season.
