Mercedes-Benz Stadium Roof To Be Closed For Peach Bowl

Leave the gloves, parkas, and Nittany Lion ear thermal headband at home, folks.

The roof of Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium will be closed for Penn State football’s Saturday matchup against Ole Miss, the stadium announced Thursday.

Though temperatures in the Peach State will hover around 42° with a real feel of 36° at kickoff, according to Accuweather, it will be a balmy 72° inside the stadium.

“Temps are forecasted with a high in the 40’s and even though Penn State fans may be comfortable in those temps, we don’t open the roof when its near freezing,” Mercedes-Benz Stadium wrote on Twitter.

The Nittany Lions similarly played in a covered stadium when battling for the Land-Grant Trophy in the team’s regular-season finale and 42-0 shutout of Michigan State at Ford Field.

James Franklin and Co. will hit the gridiron at noon on Saturday, December 30, at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia. Folks can tune into the Peach Bowl on ESPN.
