Micah Parsons Named To 2024 NFL Pro Bowl

Former Penn State All-American linebacker Micah Parsons continues to rack up accolades. The third-year professional and Dallas Cowboy was named to the 2023 Pro Bowl roster Wednesday night.

It’s the third consecutive year Parsons has made the roster, and he joins Mel Renfro as the only defensive player in Cowboys history to be named to the Pro Bowl in each of a player’s first three years in the league.

In 16 games this season, Parsons has recorded 13 sacks, 59 tackles, 17 tackles for loss, and forced and recovered one fumble.

Since being drafted 12th overall by Dallas in 2021, Parsons cemented himself as one of the best defensive players in the league. He has recorded 13 or more sacks in all three of his seasons in the pros, totaled over 200 tackles, and according to nearly every betting outlet, has the second-best odds to win Defensive Player of the Year for the 2023 season.

While Parsons got the Pro Bowl nod, others were left off the roster, including notable Nittany Lion safety Jaquan Brisker. Despite missing two games this season, Brisker shined for the Bears, recording one interception, forcing two fumbles, one sack, nine pass deflections, and 97 tackles. Brisker took to X Wednesday evening in astonishment that he wasn’t named to the bowl.

While he wasn’t named to the roster, Brisker can hope to be named an alternate and fill in for anyone in his position group who opts out. On the other side of the ball, New York Giants running back Saquon Barkley was named a second alternate as he aims to make his second consecutive and third Pro Bowl.
