Former Penn State Football Wide Receiver Daniel George Declares For 2024 NFL Draft

Former Penn State football wide receiver Daniel George announced his plan to declare for the 2024 NFL Draft on Twitter Sunday. He played for the Nittany Lions from 2018 to 2021 until transferring to Akron, where he spent the remainder of his college career.

George specifically thanked James Franklin and Akron head coach and former Penn State offensive coordinator Joe Moorhead in the post.

“Thank you Coach Franklin for instilling in me elite values and discipline,” George wrote. “Thank you Coach Moorehead for believing in me as you launched your vision of excellence at Akron. I will take the lessons I learned from you both into the next chapter of my life.”

The Oxon Hill, Maryland, native committed to Penn State as a four-star recruit and the No. 8 player in the state in the Class of 2018, according to 247Sports. He only appeared in three games his freshman season, although he made a highlight-reel play with a school-record 95-yard touchdown against Kent State.

George played in 12 games in 2019, nine in 2020, and 12 in 2021, but only made six starts throughout the next three seasons. He never had more than 10 receptions in a season and finished his Penn State career with 285 receiving yards, one touchdown, and 18 total catches.

Following the 2021 season in which George didn’t make a single reception, he transferred to Akron. He improved instantly under Moorhead in 2022, with 793 receiving yards and two touchdowns. He led the Zips with 589 receiving yards in 2023 but scored just one touchdown.
