Update, 9:30 a.m.

The university extended class cancelations until noon on Tuesday.

Only essential employees should report to campus.

Centre County remains on a winter weather advisory until noon.

Original Story:

Due to about three inches of snow that fell overnight in State College, Penn State canceled class, activities, and work until 10 a.m. at University Park on Tuesday.

Less than one inch of snow is expected to continue through 10 a.m., though the temperature will hover around 22°. Low temperatures will continue throughout the day with a daily low of 12° expected tonight. The real feel for the majority of the afternoon is 4° and will drop to -2° around 6 p.m., according to AccuWeather.

If an in-person class is scheduled for before 10 a.m., an instructor can’t adjust the session to an online synchronous class. Hybrid classes scheduled for 10 a.m. will not meet, though can be offered asynchronously. Meanwhile, web classes will continue with no changes.

All classes, activities, and work scheduled to begin at or after 10 a.m. will take place as scheduled unless otherwise noted.

For updates on further delays or cancelations, students, faculty, and staff should sign up for PSUAlerts. The same information can be found on Facebook and Twitter for parents and community members, too.

University Police and other emergency services will continue operations throughout inclement weather to ensure campus safety.
