The Best Of Your Penn State Tattoos

Last week, we asked you to show us your Penn State-themed tattoos to highlight your permanent Nittany Lion pride.

Whether you decided to sport the famous Nittany Lion logo, Alma Mater lyrics, or a deeper symbol that reminds you of your time at Dear Old State, it became clear the pride for our university runs deep.

Here are some of our favorites.

The Ultimate PSU Sleeve

Wow! This Penn State masterpiece took over seven months and 100 hours to complete.

It features a real mountain lion, Old Main, the We Are sculpture, the names of two downtown streets, FTK pride, and Beaver Stadium just from this angle.

The tattoo also highlights No. 409, the Champs Downtown logo, the Lion Shrine, Mt. Nittany, and more.

Talk about school spirit!

Home Is Where The Heart Is

This tattoo highlights that this alumna’s heart will always be most at home in State College. “We Are” is tied into the state border to include a Penn State spin on this artwork.

Penn State Forever

This lifelong Penn Stater received an autograph from Joe Paterno at the 1986 Blue-White Game, which now serves as a family heirloom. His tattoo acts as a family reminder and takes him back to all the Saturdays spent in Beaver Stadium with his dad, son, nephews, and best friends.

Blue Band Shoutout

This former Penn Stater wanted something that truly told a story of his time at Penn State. To do that, he got the Penn State Blue Band logo inked while tying in the instrument he played: the trombone.

Family Tribute

This tattoo serves as a tribute to the biggest Penn State fan this alum ever met. His grandfather had season tickets from 1964 to 2005 when he died.

As a kid, they attended every home game together, and the date on the Lion Shrine symbolizes the day his grandfather passed away.

Thou Didst Mold Us

This alum told us she has always loved the Alma Mater, but loves one line in particular because Penn State truly molded her into the person she is today.

She got choked up the first time she sang along to the Alma Mater in the student section, cried even harder during her last, and every time since. She got this tattoo during finals week of her senior year because of the impact Penn State had on her life.

We Are!

This Nittany Lion for life became a Penn State fan when he was nine years old in 1969. His son graduated from the university in 2009, too.

Family Tradition

This tattoo features a Nittany Lion along with the beginning of the Alma Mater. It was completed in Nashville, Tennessee, in honor of this alum’s dad and brother who also graduated from Penn State.

The Saquon Legacy Lives On

Completed this past November in the Philippines, this tattoo features a crossover between the Nittany Lion mascot and Penn State legend Saquon Barkley.

For The Kids

The number 46 means a lot to the Penn State community, as it represents the number of hours danced in THON.

As part of her fundraising efforts for her THON organization HEAL, this THON supporter inked the number 46 in HEAL’s THON child’s handwriting.

Family & Penn State Football

This tattoo showcases the Nittany Lion head, featuring the letters “SCC.” This is the section in Beaver Stadium where this woman and her dad enjoyed over 20 years of Penn State football games together.
