Rusty Rail Brewing Company Launches Penn State Hockey-Inspired Beer At Pegula Ice Arena
Mifflinburg’s Rusty Rail Brewing Company released a Penn State hockey-inspired beer earlier this month, honoring the palpable buzz that takes place at home series at Pegula Ice Arena.
“It’s All Your Fault,” influenced by the Roar Zone’s raucous chants behind the glass at the rink, is a 4.6% blonde ale available for purchase at Pegula Ice Arena throughout the rest of the home hockey season.
Sixteen-ounce cans of It’s All Your Fault will be available at the suite level, while 12-ounce cans will be accessible to fans within premium seating in the bowl. At this time, alcoholic beverages cannot be consumed in the stands at Pegula Ice Arena.
It’s All Your Fault is a light-drinking, Pilsner-style brew with notes of citra to make for an easily crushable beer, Rusty Rail President Rich Schrader said.
“It’s got just a little hop finish on the end of it with that citra hop, but for the most part, it’s a very balanced, easy-drinking ale,” Schrader said. “For the hockey fans and sports fans in venues like that, it’s nice to be able to provide something that still tastes like craft beer but is still approachable and crushable.”
It’s All Your Fault was the innovation of Nittany Beverage President Tom Katancik and put into action by Schrader and the folks at Rusty Rail. After a successful introduction of “The Fans” to Beaver Stadium, the partners had a small break in activity and made It’s All Your Fault a reality for craft beer and hockey lovers in Happy Valley.
“Having great partners like Nittany Beverage and [Katancik] finding the opportunities, we try to help facilitate those opportunities, and we’re so lucky and blessed to have partners and markets like that that have Penn State in their backyards,” Schrader said.
The pair picked a Rusty Rail recipe that earned a bronze medal at the Best of Craft Beer Awards in 2017 and rebranded it to produce It’s All Your Fault.
The beer is sold for $9 is Pegula Ice Arena, and folks can purchase It’s All Your Fault at Penn State’s next home series at 7 p.m. on Friday, January 26.
