Former Penn State Football Offensive Lineman Ryan Bates Traded To Chicago Bears

Former Penn State football offensive lineman and Buffalo Bill Ryan Bates was traded from the Bills to the Chicago Bears in exchange for a fifth-round draft pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.

Bates played for the blue and white from 2015 to 2018.

The Langhorne, Pennsylvania, native started 22 games at right guard for the Bills in 2022 and filled in as the team’s backup center in 2023.

In Happy Valley, Bates tallied 37 appearances and was twice named to the All-Big Ten third team.

Bates will join fellow Nittany Lion Jaquan Brisker in Chicago and depart KJ Hamler, DaQuan Jones, and Connor McGovern.
