Penn State Hoops To Open Big Ten Tournament Against Michigan March 13

Penn State men’s basketball will face Michigan during the first round of the 2024 Big Ten Tournament, the conference announced Sunday night.

The game is set to tip off at 9 p.m. on Wednesday, March 13, at the Target Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota. This comes after the Nittany Lions defeated the Maryland Terrapins at home on Senior Night.

Penn State finished as the No. 11 seed in the tournament, and Michigan locked up the No. 14 seed as the lowest-ranked team in the conference. The winner of that game will move on to face the No. 6 seed Indiana Hoosiers, and that winner will face the Nebraska Cornhuskers.

The previous matchup against the Wolverines came back in January in a comeback win for Penn State at The Palestra. In that game, the Nittany Lions came back from a 14-point deficit to pull out a 79-73 victory in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Last year, Penn State nearly went all the way in the tournament, falling just short in the championship game against No. 5 Purdue 67-65.
