Penn State Football Releases Roster Updates As 2024 Spring Camp Begins

Penn State football released five number changes and 15 weight changes with the team’s 2024 spring camp underway.

Perhaps the most notable number change is safety Kevin Winston Jr., who’s moving from No. 21 to No. 2 this upcoming season. Winston explained that he wore No. 21 for Sean Taylor, who played for Washington’s NFL franchise before his death in 2007 but that he wanted to get back to No. 2 because he wore it playing high school football.

Cornerback Zion Tracy, who saw significant playing time in the 2023 Peach Bowl, is switching from No. 12 to No. 7. Karson Kiesewetter, who walked on as a quarterback ahead of last season, is switching to safety alongside Winston, as well as from No. 17 to No. 28. Wide receiver Mekhi Flowers, who switched positions from safety over the offseason, changed from No. 10 to No. 80. Offensive tackle J’ven Williams changed from No. 70 to No. 74.

Defensive end Dani Dennis-Sutton is up to 270 from 261 pounds. Freshman defensive end Jaylen Harvey jumped from 250 to 266 pounds. Additionally, offensive lineman Chimdy Onoh went from 300 to 323 pounds.
