Report: Former Penn State Defensive Lineman Kevin Givens Re-Signs With San Francisco 49ers

Former Penn State defensive lineman Kevin Givens reportedly resigned with the San Francisco 49ers on a one-year deal, according to ESPN Insider Adam Schefter.

Details on his contract were not released.

Givens played for Penn State from 2015 to 2019 and had a strong career with the Nittany Lions. During that time, he recorded 82 total tackles, 21.5 tackles for loss, and 13 sacks.

After that, he entered the 2019 NFL Draft and went undrafted. However, the San Francisco 49ers signed him to their practice squad after the draft. After participating on the practice squad for eight months, the 49ers promoted him to their active roster where he’s played for five seasons.

In those five seasons, Givens recorded 79 tackles, 16 tackles for a loss, 12 quarterback hits, 4.5 sacks, three passes defensed, and a forced fumble. Givens will return alongside new teammate and once-Nittany Lion Yetur Gross-Matos as San Francisco searches to return to the Super Bowl next season.
