Report: Penn State Hoops Forward Demetrius Lilley Enters Transfer Portal

Penn State men’s basketball forward Demetrius Lilley reportedly entered the transfer portal Wednesday, according to Verbal Commits.

Lilley, a 6’10” sophomore and holdover commitment from the Micah Shrewsberry era, is the third Nittany Lion to enter the portal and the fourth including Kanye Clary.

Lilley committed to the blue and white as a three-star out of Lower Merion High School in 2021 and was the No. 7-ranked Pennsylvania prospect and No. 39 center at the time, according to 247Sports. He joined Shrewsberry’s Class of 2022 roster and the highest-ranked recruiting class in program history.

The forward appeared in five games as a true freshman and didn’t carve out a significant role in either of his two seasons in Happy Valley. He refrained from entering the transfer portal following Shrewsberry’s departure and adapted to Mike Rhoades’ fast pace of play in contrast to his typical style.

He totaled 9.3 average minutes across 20 appearances in 2023-24 under Rhoades to provide rest for big men Qudus Wahab and Leo O’Boyle. He registered a total of 2.7 rebounds, 0.2 assists, and 2.8 points per game this season.

Lilley joins Bragi Gudmundsson, Favour Aire, and Clary to enter the portal following the conclusion of the regular season. Right now, Jameel Brown is the only remnant of the Shrewsberry era who has yet to reportedly enter the transfer portal.
