Report: Penn State Men’s Hockey Defenseman Christian Berger Enters Transfer Portal
Penn State men’s hockey defenseman Christian Berger has entered the transfer portal, according to GopherPuckLive. The captain was often cited by head coach Guy Gadowsky as being a leader in the locker room.
The St. Louis, Missouri, native missed the last six games due to injury before the Nittany Lion’s season ended in the Big Ten Tournament.
During the 2023 season, Berger notched six points before his season-ending injury. In his four years in the blue and white, Berger had 42 points on nine goals and 33 assists.
The captain became the fifth player to enter the transfer portal since it opened in March. So far, the Nittany Lions have lost Ryan Kirwan, Liam Souliere, Dylan Gratton, Chase McLane, and Tyler Paquette to the portal.
Amid the losses, Penn State has added UConn goaltender Arsenii Sergeev via the portal.
