Former Penn State Football Commit Jaelyne Matthews Commits to Rutgers

Four-star offensive lineman Jaelyne Matthews committed to Rutgers on Tuesday. Matthews was Penn State football’s first commit for the class of 2025 before reopening his recruitment in September.

Matthews picked the Scarlet Knights over other finalists like Georgia, Tennessee, and Miami. The 6’5″, 305-pound offensive tackle hails from Toms River, New Jersey, nearly 60 miles from Rutgers University, and is the No. 7 ranked player in the state and the No. 26 offensive tackle in the country, according to 247Sports’s Composite rankings.

Matthews is Rutgers’s 22nd commit of the 2025 class. A class that currently holds the No. 11 spot, one spot above Penn State, in 247Sports’s 2025 recruitment rankings.
