Abdul Carter & Sal Wormley Named To USA Today All-Big Ten Preseason Team
College football is almost here, folks.
Penn State football defensive end Abdul Carter and offensive lineman Sal Wormley have been named to USA Today’s preseason All-American team ahead of the 2024 season. The pair was joined by running back Nick Singleton, tight end Tyler Warren, defensive end Dani Dennis-Sutton, and safety K.J. Winston also received votes.
Wormley has been a consistent start for the Nittany Lions in the last two seasons, being named an All-Big Ten honorable mention twice, after seeing minimal playing time in his first three years. He’s the only returning starter to Penn State’s offensive line.
Carter is coming off a great season where he earned All-Big Ten first-team honors and was voted as a second-team All-American by Sports Illustrated. Carter has recently transitioned from being an off-ball linebacker to a defensive end and has already accrued a few preseason All-American and All-Big Ten looks.
Singleton has been a starter for Penn State nearly the whole time he’s been in Happy Valley. Thus far, the running back has recorded 1,813 rushing yards and 20 rushing touchdowns.
Warren is entering his fifth season with the Nittany Lions and was part of one of the nation’s top tight end rooms last season. He’s caught 49 passes for 606 yards and 11 touchdowns across 40 appearances.
Dennis-Sutton has appeared in 26 games through two years with Penn State and will work across from Carter in 2024. He’s made 43 total tackles, 6.5 sacks, and two forced fumbles.
Winston comes into the 2024 season as one of the nation’s best safety prospects. He finished last season with All-Big Ten honorable mentions by coaches and media and started in all 13 of the Nittany Lions’ games. Winston has made 77 tackles, defended six passes, and made one interception during his time at Penn Stat.e
