Former Penn State Baseball Infielder C.J. Pittaro Signs With Oakland Athletics
Former Penn State baseball infielder C.J. Pittaro has signed a contract with the Oakland Athletics, the team announced Thursday.
The New Jersey native spent his freshman season playing for Vanderbilt before transferring to Penn State.
During his sophomore year, Pittaro started 22 games at third base and batted .238 with 19 hits. He also recorded three multi-hit games. For his junior year, he appeared in 24 games, making nine starts. These starts were in multiple different positions, including first base, the outfield, and as a designated hitter. Pittaro batted .277 with 13 hits, including eight RBI.
He only played in one game for the 2023-2024 season where he was only at bat once.
Pittaro became the first, and thus far the only, Nittany Lion to earn a professional contract after the 2024 season. No Penn Staters were drafted into the MLB and none other than Pittaro have earned contracts after the draft.
