Penn State Football Without Tight Ends Khalil Dinkins & Jerry Cross Against West Virginia

Penn State football will be missing tight ends Khalil Dinkins and Jerry Cross in its season opener against West Virginia, according to the team’s availability report. The report doesn’t list the reason for their statuses.

Dinkins played behind Theo Johnson and Tyler Warren last season and recorded five receptions for 57 yards and two touchdowns in 12 games. The redshirt junior was listed as the second-string on the team’s depth chart behind Warren for this season.

Cross, a redshirt sophomore, appeared in five games last season and has yet to record any receiving stats as a Nittany Lion.

With Dinkins and Cross inactive, look for redshirt freshman Andrew Rappleyea and true freshman Luke Reynolds to get some snaps against the Mountaineers.

At his Monday press conference, James Franklin announced that wide receiver Kaden Saunders was dealing with some “bumps and bruises,” but was hopeful for the game against West Virginia. Saunders wasn’t listed on Saturday’s availability report.
