Penn State Football Sticks At No. 8 In AP Poll

Penn State football was ranked No. 8 in the latest AP Poll, the Associated Press announced Sunday.

Despite barely avoiding an upset against Bowling Green on Saturday, the Nittany Lions were bailed out by losses from then-No. 5 Notre Dame and No. 10 Michigan.

Michigan fell out of the top 10 with its 34-12 loss to Texas while Ohio State remained the top-ranked team in the Big Ten at No. 3, sliding from the No. 2 spot taken by the Longhorns. Despite two close games, Oregon remained in the top 10 at No. 9.

Georgia, Alabama, Ole Miss, Missouri, and Tennessee round out the teams ranked ahead of Penn State.

Penn State has a bye this week but will return to Beaver Stadium to face Kent State on September 21. The kickoff time and television coverage have yet to be determined.
