What Songs Are Famous Penn Staters (Probably) Listening To?
Penn Staters know head football coach James Franklin’s walkout song. They might even know his coffee order, but what about what’s on his Spotify playlist?
Believe it or not, some of your favorite Nittany Lions are more than likely streaming music just like you and me. While we would kill to know what the likes of Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics Pat Kraft or Drew Allar have on their monthly rotations, we here at Onward State feel we have a pretty good idea about the genres these famous Penn Staters have on repeat.
Without further ado, here are our best guesses at the songs that are likely blasting through the earbuds of these famous figures on campus.
Drew Allar
Allar seems like the kind of guy whose playlist is just nonstop hype tracks. Picture him on game day, locked in with some Kendrick Lamar or Drake to get the adrenaline pumping. Off the field, we’re not too sure how much it cools down either — it’s probably still a lot of hip-hop.
Mike Rhoades
Penn State men’s basketball head coach Mike Rhoades probably likes some of that intensity with his music, too, but in a less modern way than the likes of Allar. We’re thinking more like if your cooler uncle threw a cookout and needed to hop on AUX, that’s what Rhoades would play. What do you think?
Neeli Bendapudi
This one is pretty much just ~vibes~ but for some reason, we could see our president bumping in the hallways of Old Main to ’80s popular music and rock. Bendapudi would’ve been in college right around the time some of these songs came out, too, so maybe it’s a bit of a throwback playlist.
You have to be tough as nails to take over as the president of a major university on the heels of COVID-19 and a budget deficit, so her music taste should match. Oh, and some ABBA too, because, who knows?
Pat Kraft
This one was more of a wildcard. As an athlete himself, a walk-on at Indiana, no less, Kraft knows the meaning of hard work. For this reason, we think he shares some similar tastes as Neeli Bendapudi, but also probably has a good amount of hip-hop on his playlist too, albeit, nothing too modern.
James Franklin
Ima Boss.
