In week five, Penn State football’s defense had a dominant showing as the Nittany Lions beat Illinois in a 21-7 nailbiter under the lights of Beaver Stadium. While the Nittany Lions showed the world what “White Out energy” was, many former Penn State players were also putting the country on notice.

Let’s check out how some former Penn State players performed in their week five matchups.

KeAndre Lambert-Smith, Auburn

Penn State football’s leading wide receiver last year, KeAndre Lambert-Smith hauled in five catches for 77 yards and one touchdown in Auburn’s 28-21 loss against Oklahoma. This was his second straight week with at least five catches and a touchdown.

Christian Veilleux, Georgia State

Quarterback Christian Veilleux recorded a season-high 356 yards along with two touchdowns and three interceptions in Georgia State’s 38-21 loss to Georgia Southern. Veilleux’s night included his longest completion of the year when he threw a 76-yard touchdown to wide receiver Ted Hurst.

Cristian Driver, Minnesota

Wide receiver Cristian Driver had one catch for 14 yards in Minnesota’s 24-21 loss to Michigan.

Alex Bacchetta, Rice

Punter Alex Bachetta recorded five punts for a total of 193 yards for Rice as it lost to Charlotte in a 21-20 nailbiter.

King Mack, Alabama

Defensive back King Mack recorded one tackle in Alabama’s thrilling 41-34 victory over Georgia.
