Nittany Lions In The NFL: Week Six Roundup

The sixth week of NFL action has concluded, bringing us a few new moments from Penn State alumni.

The Nittany Lions flew to the West Coast to defeat the USC Trojans 33-30 in the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum this past Saturday.

Meanwhile, former Penn State stars showcased their talents in the world of professional football. Let’s see how those Nittany Lions performed in week six of the season.

Chris Godwin, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Wide receiver Chris Godwin erupted in the Buccaneers’ 51-27 victory against the New Orleans Saints this past Sunday. The eight-year NFL veteran amassed 11 receptions for 125 yards and two touchdowns. Godwin has had a phenomenal season thus far, ranking third in the league in receiving with 511 total yards.

Saquon Barkley, Philadelphia Eagles

Coming off the bye week, running back Saquon Barkley had his least productive outing of the season in the Philadelphia Eagles 20-16 victory against the Cleveland Browns. Barkley ran the ball 18 times for 47 yards, averaging 2.6 yards per carry. The Eagles running back also tallied two receptions for seven yards.

Amani Oruwariye, Dallas Cowboys

Cornerback Amani Oruwariye recorded five tackles and defended a pass in the Dallas Cowboys’ 47-9 loss to the Detroit Lions. Oruwariye started the season on Dallas’ practice squad after being released by the Jacksonville Jaguars in August. The cornerback has earned his spot on the Cowboys’ 53-man roster with consistent play in three games.

DaQuan Jones, Buffalo Bills

Defensive tackle DaQuan Jones tallied two solo tackles and one sack in the Buffalo Bills 23-20 victory against the New York Jets on Monday Night Football. This was the 11th-year veteran’s first sack of the season.

Theo Johnson, New York Giants

Rookie tight end Theo Johnson looked solid in the New York Giants’ 17-7 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday Night Football. The rookie hauled in three receptions for 30 yards, building on his rookie campaign.

Ji’Ayir Brown, San Francisco 49ers

Safety Ji’Ayir Brown flew all over the field in the 49ers 36-24 win against the Seahawks on Thursday night. Brown totaled six solo tackles and two assisted tackles. Brown was the second leading tackler behind only linebacker Fred Warner, who recorded 11 tackles.

  • Tight end Pat Freiermuth hauled in two catches for 16 yards in the Pittsburgh Steelers 32-13 victory against the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday.
  • Cornerback Joey Porter Jr. totaled three solo tackles and one assisted tackle in the Steelers’ victory against the Las Vegas Raiders.
  • Tight end Juwan Johnson recorded three receptions for 48 yards in the Saints 51-27 loss to the Buccaneers on Sunday.
  • Safety Nick Scott had a productive game in the Carolina Panthers’ 38-20 loss to the Atlanta Falcons. Scott recorded four solo tackles and one assisted tackles against the Falcons.
  • Wide receiver Jahan Dotson recorded one reception for 10 yards in Philadelphia’s victory against the Cleveland Browns.
