Your Best Penn State-Themed Cakes
Last week, we asked you to send us your best Penn State-themed cakes, and you didn’t disappoint.
People made Penn State-themed cakes for all sorts of occasions: weddings, graduation parties, and even their own holidays. Whether they were handmade or from a bakery, many of these decadent desserts showcase Penn State pride through and through.
We compiled some of our favorite submissions below. Hopefully, they don’t make you too hungry!
Clare & Anthony Mangus
This wedding cake was the perfect addition to an alumni wedding! Clare and Anthony’s cake featured a sprinkled layer in tribute to what they feel is the only acceptable creamery flavor topping. Both classy and spirited, this cake brings a Penn State flavor to the party.
Cindy Halterman
This Penn State mom went all out for both of her daughters! Featuring a unique Nittany Lion in the center of each cake, these high school graduation party cakes have us drooling. Her Class of 2025 daughter is even a Touch of Blue majorette, hence the baton!
Kristen (Huth) Rowe
Roommates and 2009 alumnae Kristen and Jessica Silko started a tradition that required a cake — Paternomas. The holiday celebrates Joe Paterno’s birthday on December 21, and the roommates carried the tradition on through all of their dorms and apartments over the years. Coupled with Penn State gifts, a tree, and time with friends, the cake from the Atherton Walmart only adds to the clever holiday.
Gia Golder
Golder, who graduated from Penn State in 2021, handmade the cake and accompanying desserts herself. This spread in honor of her cousin’s high school graduation was nothing short of spectacular. The Golder family has plenty of Nittany Lions, and they’re over the moon to add another Penn Stater to the bunch!
Meghan Lamm
In the words of Onward State’s dear friend Meghan Lamm, Onward State was written in the stars (and the icing). We present social media manager Keeley Lamm’s high school graduation cake from Pudgey Cakes and Treats. Complete with a mini Onward State Nittany Lion reporter, this one might take the cake. After all, who can argue with a blog cake?
Angi Zellers
This cake was designed for two Penn State lovebirds who got engaged during their senior year in Happy Valley. Designed by Kelly Hoffman, the cake was a special touch to cap off an even more special day!
Mike Mullaney
These cupcakes were a special edition to a Class of 2028 bed party by Starry Night Bakery in Westminster, Maryland. Hopefully, they got the newest Nittany Lion ready to share their roar!
