Big Spring Spirits’ Downtown State College Location To Open November 7

Bellefonte-based Big Spring Spirits’ second location in downtown State College is set to open at 5 p.m. on Thursday, November 7, at 205 E. Beaver Ave. on the first floor of the Scholar Hotel.

The distillery creates its own tequila, gin, vodka, rum, whiskey, rye, and bourbon with water from Bellefonte along with serving a specialty cocktail lineup. Its original location, housed inside the former Pennsylvania Match Company factory in Talleyrand Park, was established in 2014 and will remain operative in addition to the State College venue.

“There are a lot of tried-and-true Big Spring cocktails on the menu, but also a nice wine-by-the-glass list and craft beer on tap and in bottles, as well as a revised food menu from the Scholar kitchen,” Tasting Room Manager Lucy Rogers said of the options available downtown.

As part of Big Spring Spirits’ grand-opening event on Thursday, there will be raffles, giveaways, a DJ, and complimentary spirit tastings, too, Rogers said.

The downtown location will be open from 5 to 11 p.m. every day, and Big Spring’s spirits can also be purchased at Cafe 210 West, Allen Street Grill, Federal Taphouse, Bill Pickle’s Tap Room, and more.

“We really believe we are in the process of creating a great local bar that will be truly focused on quality beverages,” Rogers said in September.
