Your Penn State-Themed Holiday Decorations

Last week, we asked you to send in your best Penn State-themed holiday decorations, and the results did not disappoint. From lights to traditional trees to Champs trees, the results varied but all had one thing in common: They bring together Penn Staters with holiday cheer.

Here are the best submissions we received from folks celebrating the holidays in Penn State style.

Cofer Buckingham – Drew Allar Elf On The Shelf

Cofer Buckingham, a 7-year-old from Medina, Ohio, Drew Allar’s hometown, hoped his elf on the shelf, Chippy, would show up as the beloved Penn State quarterback this year — and he did! Buckingham has watched Allar play football since Allar was a sophomore in high school and continues to watch him every weekend since going to Penn State.

Josh Rubin – Champs Cup Christmas Tree

Fiiiiiveeee Dirty Sprites! After discovering that empty Champs cups could be taken out of the bar, Josh Rubin accepted the challenge and put his roommates up to the test to see how many they could collect before this Christmas. Four hundred and nine cups later, they assembled the quintessential college Christmas tree.

Gino Giantesano – Ghost Of Nittany Lion Christmas Tree

Gino Giantesano, a Class of 2000 alum, adds a second tree to the mix every year. In their words, “This tree is for the ghost of Nittany Lion who comes down the chimney on Christmas Eve, adorns his hat that you see on the mantle, and leaves an abundance of beer and grilled stickies for all to enjoy. Right before he takes off his hat to depart, he lets out a loud Nittany Lion roar, ‘Merry Christmas to all, and to all Penn State, fight, fight, fight!'”

Jenny Kreisher – Penn State Uplighting

Jenny Kreisher, Class of 2008, and Adam Kreisher, Class of 2007, built their home in 2022 and added uplighting in Penn State colors to honor the Nittany Lions during football season and beyond! Complimented by all of their neighbors, even those silly enough to not root for Dear Old State, the lights are a subtle Penn State touch to the holiday season.

Liv Pulak: Penn State Santa Statue

This is one of the many Penn State decorations that sits atop the Pulak mantel at Christmastime. Gifted to Liv Pulak’s mom by her mother, the decoration holds a special meeting since Pulak’s mom and all of her siblings are also alumni.

Jenna Voyten: Penn State Christmas Tree

Last year, when Jenna Voyten returned home for winter break, her mom surprised her with this Penn State Christmas tree! With a whole family full of Penn Staters, the tree fit right in with the Voyten house.

Patti McGinnis Schuler: Penn State Snowman & Ornaments

1995 alum Patti McGinnis Schuler has a house full of Penn State-themed holiday decorations! One was a snowman she received from her college roommate and best friend many years ago, which was passed down to her son to put in his dorm room. She also has plenty of Penn State ornaments on her tree!
