Nittany Lions In The NFL: Week 16 Roundup

The NFL has wrapped up its 16th week of action, leaving just two more weeks of the regular season.

The Nittany Lions enjoyed a historic weekend, defeating SMU 38-10 in the first round of the College Football Playoff. While the Nittany Lions took care of business at Beaver Stadium, Penn State alumni across the NFL performed for their respective teams.

Let’s see how Penn State alumni fared in week 16.

Saquon Barkley, Philadelphia Eagles

Running back Saquon Barkley dominated in the Philadelphia Eagles’ 36-33 loss to the Washington Commanders on Sunday. Barkley rushed for 150 yards on 29 attempts, averaging 5.2 yards per carry, and scored two touchdowns on the ground.

Barkley leads the NFL in total rushing with 1,838 yards on 314 carries. To break the NFL’s single-season rushing record of 2,105 yards, Barkley must average 134 rushing yards over Phildelphia’s next two contests. He’s averaging 122.5 rushing yards per game.

Micah Parsons, Dallas Cowboys

Linebacker Micah Parsons was disruptive in the Dallas Cowboys’ 26-24 victory over the Tampa Bay Buccanneers. Parsons posted five total tackles, a sack, and a forced fumble against Tampa Bay on Sunday Night Football. This season, Parsons has accumulated 37 total tackles, 9.5 sacks, and two forced fumbles with the Cowboys.

Chop Robinson, Miami Dolphins

Linebacker Chop Robinson set the edge in the Miami Dolphins’ 29-17 victory over the San Francisco 49ers. The rookie defensive end recorded a single tackle and got into San Francisco’s backfield for a sack late in the fourth quarter. Robinson has recorded six sacks in his first season with the Dolphins, ranking first among rookies.

Parker Washington, Jacksonville Jaguars

Wide receiver Parker Washington had a solid performance on Sunday, hauling in six receptions for 54 yards in the Jacksonville Jaguars’ 19-14 loss to the Las Vegas Raiders. Washington has recorded 27 catches for 344 yards and a touchdown in his second year with Jacksonville.

Arnold Ebiketie, Atlanta Falcons

Linebacker Arnold Ebiketie was busy in the Atlanta Falcons’ 34-7 victory over the New York Giants, recording five total tackles and a sack against New York. Ebiketie has recorded 34 total tackles and five sacks in his third season with Atlanta.

Austin Johnson, Buffalo Bills

Defensive tackle Austin Johnson was solid in the Buffalo Bills’ 24-21 victory over the New England Patriots. Johnson recorded two total tackles and half a sack against New England.

  • Tight end Pat Freiermuth caught three passes for 16 yards in the Pittsburgh Steelers’ 34-17 loss to the Baltimore Ravens on Saturday.
  • Tight end Mike Gesicki hauled in two receptions for 14 yards in the Cincinnati Bengals’ 24-6 victory over the Cleveland Browns on Sunday.
  • Safety Ji’Ayir Brown recorded one tackle in the 49ers’ 29-17 loss to the Dolphins.
  • Defensive end Yetur Gross-Matos recorded three total tackles in the 49ers’ loss to the Dolphins on Sunday.
  • Cornerback Joey Porter Jr. posted three total tackles in the Steelers’ loss to Baltimore.
  • Tight end Juwan Johnson caught two passes for 27 yards in the New Orleans Saints’ loss on Monday Night Football.
