Penn State Men’s Hockey Freshman Andrew Kuzma Provides Update After Heart Surgery
Penn State men’s hockey forward Andrew Kuzma provided an update on his health via social media on Thursday after heart surgery.
Kuzma, a freshman from Illinois, announced he underwent heart surgery on November 22 and has since been recovering at home. The surgery was to correct a heart condition that Kuzma was born with but recently discovered.
“I am extremely appreciative of the support from my family, all my teammates, the entire Penn State hockey staff, and the whole Hockey Valley community for standing by me during these difficult times,” Kuzma wrote. “I am optimistic for a speedy recovery, and I’m excited to share the ice with my brothers again once I am clear to resume playing the sport I love so much.
“Until then… #WeAre.”
Penn State men’s hockey returns to action on Friday, January 3, to take on Notre Dame at Wrigley Field in Chicago. The game is scheduled to start at 8:30 p.m.
