Report: Tom Allen Agrees To Become Clemson’s Defensive Coordinator

After just one season with Penn State football, defensive coordinator Tom Allen has agreed to take the same job at Clemson, CBS Sports’s Matt Zenitz reported Monday.

Under Allen, the Nittany Lions ranked seventh in the total defense, eighth in points per game, and ninth against the run nationally. The defense helped lead Penn State to two College Football Playoff victories as the group allowed 16 points per game this offseason.

Penn State will now search for its third defensive coordinator in as many seasons. Manny Diaz left the program to become the head coach at Duke in December 2023. Allen was hired days later after being the head coach at Indiana from 2017 until 2023.

On the other side of the ball, Penn State offensive coordinator Andy Kotelnicki was involved in rumors surrounding the head coaching position at West Virginia but didn’t take the job.
