Nittany Lions In The NFL: Divisional Weekend Roundup

The divisional round of the NFL playoffs has concluded, bringing us some career-defining moments from Penn State alumni. Three of the five former Penn Staters and their teams are moving on to conference championship weekend in hopes of playing in the Super Bowl.

Let’s see how Penn State was represented in the divisional round of the NFL playoffs.

Saquon Barkley, Philadelphia Eagles

Running back Saquon Barkley continued his dominant 2024 campaign during the Philadelphia Eagles’ 28-22 victory over the Los Angeles Rams at Lincoln Financial Field. Barkley rushed for 205 yards on 26 attempts, averaging 7.9 yards per carry, and hauled in four receptions for 27 yards. Barkley scored two rushing touchdowns against Los Angeles: a 62-yard rushing touchdown in the first quarter and a game-sealing 78-yard score in the fourth quarter.

This was the second time this season Barkley eclipsed 200 rushing yards against the Rams. The former Penn State running back rushed for a career-high 255 rushing yards against Los Angeles in week 12 of the regular season.

Barkley and the Philadelphia Eagles will face the Washington Commanders in the NFC Championship Game at Lincoln Financial Field at 3 p.m. on Sunday, January 26.

Austin Johnson, Buffalo Bills

Defensive tackle Austin Johnson recorded a solid outing in the Buffalo Bills’ 27-25 victory over the Baltimore Ravens, recording two total tackles.

DaQuan Jones, Buffalo Bills

Defensive tackle DaQuan Jones clogged the middle in the Bills’ divisional-round win. The former Penn State defensive lineman recorded two solo tackles against Baltimore.

Johnson and Jones will retake the field at 6 p.m. on Sunday, January 26, when the Bills face the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Championship Game at Arrowhead Stadium.

Odafe Oweh, Baltimore Ravens

Edge rusher Odafe Oweh recorded one solo tackle in the Ravens’ loss to Buffalo on Sunday. Oweh finished his fourth season with the Ravens with 40 total tackles, 10 sacks, one forced fumble, and one pass defended.

Jordan Stout, Baltimore Ravens

Punter Jordan Stout launched four punts for 177 yards, averaging 44.3 yards per punt in Baltimore’s divisional-round loss to Buffalo. Three of Stout’s punts landed within the 20-yard line.
