The Fray Teaches THON 2025 ‘How To Save A Life’

For Friday night’s national act at THON 2025, The Fray took over the Bryce Jordan Center. With popular hits such as “How to Save a Life” and “You Found Me,” both with over 500 million streams on Spotify alone, the band made the trip from Denver, Colorado, for THON.

Similar to 2024’s national act, the Fray did not start right at 9 p.m. Instead, the band started its performance 10 minutes later. The Fray took the stage to immense crowd noise and kept the energy going with a “We Are” chant.

The first song the band played was “She Is” but quickly got the crowd back into it with one of its hit songs “Over My Head.” Most of the BJC sang along to this one.

The Fray took a short break to do some crowd work. “It’s good to be here, how we feeling?” lead guitarist Joe King asked.

After a rambunctious response from the crowd, the group went right into “Heartbeat” and “Closer To Me” with no break. Subsequently, its live rendition of “Look After You” sparked the crowd to take out its flashlights and wave them side to side. A slower song, but perfect for THON.

King took time after “Look After You” to introduce his drummer Zach Johnson, who took the time to dive into a quick 30-second solo performance. He followed this up with the intro to “Love Don’t Die,” another perfect choice for the THON crowd.

In a turn of events, King joined the crowd for “Hurricane,” walking through all of the dancers and high-fiving everyone in sight. He even pretended to take one unlucky dancer’s hat, before giving it back a few seconds later.

On his way back up to the stage, King made sure to grab a water gun and get some shots off into the crowd stating, “It got a little wet out there.” He was talking about the hurricane, of course.

Once back on stage, The Fray thanked the folks in the crowd and went right into “Syndicate” and “Never Say Never.” Fans put their arms around each other and swayed to the melody of “Never Say Never.”

“You Found Me” kept the bangers rolling, somehow topping the other songs in terms of the crowd singing along. The band slowed the tempo after that to get a message across before getting into an emotional rendition of “How To Save A Life.”

Folks, even I stood up and sang along for this one. An absolutely electric way to end a THON performance that most in attendance will remember for a long time.

If you want a chance to experience what the dancers had, The Fray will begin its next tour on March 15 in Chandler, Arizona. The tour will span multiple countries and continue for almost a year, ending on November 22 in Dublin, Ireland.
