An Ode To The Sunday Morning Sun At THON

Rise and shine, Penn State!

It is less than 12 hours until we find out how much money the Penn State community raised to fight the battle against pediatric cancer.

After hours of not knowing what time of day it is, the temperature changing consistently, and music blasting inside of the Bryce Jordan Center, everyone here is ready to step through the gates of the Bryce Jordan Center.

The crisp winter air mixed with the pink and oranges in the sky makes for a beautiful sunrise, which you can catch if you are leaving the Bryce Jordan Center around 7 a.m. But watching the sunrise on THON Weekend is more significant, it means you made it through a graveyard shift at the BJC.

It’s gonna take a little adjusting for your eyes to get used to, especially after staring at the same T-shirts and signs for the last however many hours.

The sunrise could also be the wake-up call you needed before the home stretch. The birds chirping while your alarm goes off, the freezing air blowing in your face, and the reminder that you have almost made it through a weekend unlike any other.

The exhaustion has set in, and you may be wondering how you are going to survive the final hours of THON Weekend. But remember, you are here for something bigger than yourself.

So take a deep breath, embrace the new day, and know that every moment of this experience has been worth it. You have made it through the darkness of night, and now you are witnessing the promise of a brand new day.

Hold onto the sunrise as a symbol of resilience, because as long as there is hope, there’s a reason to keep dancing.
