OK Otter & Joe Downs Light Up THON 2025 With Early-Morning Performance

Local State College band OK Otter took the stage at THON 2025 early Sunday morning. Penn State student Joe Downs joined the group on keyboard and vocals for its performance.

OK Otter was formed in 2021 with Mike Doyle on guitar, Joe Tombasco on piano, and Rob Bonsell on drums. The band performs a range of genres from folk rock covers to indie pop and Irish trad rock originals.

Its music has been used by multiple brands like the NHL and Lexus, along with popular vloggers on social media.

The group started with some covers and decided to head back a few decades with “Bitter Sweet Symphony” by the Verve followed by “Viva La Vida” by Coldplay.

OK Otter transitioned to some country music with “Heartache on the Dance Floor” and “Head Over Boots,” both by Jon Pardi.

The group then returned to the throwbacks with “All These Things That I’ve Done” by The Killers and “She’s So High” by Tal Bachman.

It then transitioned into one of its original songs called “Wendy Peffercorn” before going back to the covers and performing a 1980s classic, “Don’t You (Forget About Me)” by Simple Minds.

The band switched up the pace with “Animal” by Neon Trees and kept the fast pace going with a guitar solo into “Lonely Boy” by The Black Keys, and then “Someday” by The Strokes.

The next performances were “Steady, as She Goes” by The Raconteurs, “It Just Takes Some Time” by Jimmy Eat World, and “My Body” by Young the Giant.

OK Otter closed out its set with performances of “Take Me Out” by Franz Ferdinand and got the crowd singing to “Seven Nation Army” by The White Stripes.
