Penn State Women’s Volleyball To Set To Open Its Season In AVCA First Serve Event

The path has been set!

Penn State women’s volleyball team will open its season by participating in the AVCA First Serve event, the program announced Monday.

The Nittany Lions will begin their season with a rematch of last year’s Regional Final as they face Creighton on Friday, August 22 in Lincoln, Nebraska. In last year’s regional final, Penn State defeated Creighton in a 5-set thriller to advance to the Final Four of the NCAA Tournament.

Penn State will then face Kansas on Monday, August 25, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, for its second match. The Jayhawks finished last season with a 25-5 record and they lost to Florida in round two of the NCAA Tournament.

The Nittany Lions will work to build on their incredible season from last year that saw them go 35-2 and bring home their eighth national title. The team will be under the leadership of head coach Katie Schumacher-Cawley, who recently signed an extension with the team through 2030.
